Sizes
Choose natural stone by exact dimensions — from slim cladding strips to dramatic large-format slabs. Below is an overview of the most popular formats and their typical uses indoors and outdoors.
French pattern tiles
The French (Versailles) pattern combines four sizes in a repeating modular layout: 20.3×20.3 cm, 20.3×40.6 cm, 40.6×40.6 cm and 40.6×61 cm (8×8", 8×16", 16×16", 16×24"). One set usually includes 12 tiles and covers about 1.5 m² (~16 ft²). Ideal for terraces and interiors where you want a lively, organic joint grid.
Paving stones
The 20×10 cm format is a classic exterior paver for driveways, paths and public areas — it lays precisely in running bond or herringbone. The larger 30×15 cm reads more elegant and suits walkways, courtyards and squares; split or sandblasted textures increase slip resistance. (These pavers are designed exclusively for outdoor use.)
Stone cladding strips
Strips 30×7.5 cm / 20×6 cm create a fine rhythm on walls and plinths, both indoors and on facades. Longer panels 60×15 cm speed up installation and give the wall a continuous flow — perfect for feature walls, fireplaces and fences with pronounced split-face relief.
Natural stone tiles
The 61×30.5 cm (12"×24") format is a versatile choice for floors and interior wall cladding; the square 61×61 cm (24"×24") brings a balanced grid to bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms. Selected stones and finishes are also suitable for modern architecture as facade cladding.
Large-format tiles
Large formats minimise joints and showcase the stone’s character. 80×40 cm and 90×60 cm work beautifully on terraces and in larger bathrooms; 120×60 cm is a modern staple for representative interiors; and 180×90 cm creates an almost seamless look in halls or commercial spaces. They’re excellent for indoor–outdoor continuity (e.g., living room → terrace) and, with the right specifications, can be used on walls and selected facades.
Outdoor pavers
The 61×40.6 cm (24"×16") format is a robust choice for terraces, pool surrounds and garden walkways. Tumbled or subtly textured surfaces feel natural and provide reliable traction.
Quick guide by thickness
Thin stone tiles — primarily for interiors; can be used outdoors as bonded paving on concrete or as facade cladding (see Indoor flooring).
Standard tiles & paving — for floors/paving only (not walls); suitable indoors and outdoors (see Indoor flooring).
Flexible stone veneer — wall cladding for interiors and exteriors: facades, fireplaces, bathrooms, kitchen backsplashes and furniture cladding (see Stone veneer).
